Edifier MP300 Plus Multimedia Speakers

With more and more people using laptops in recent years (especially working adults on the move and college students), the demand for portable multimedia speakers has greatly increased. Some laptop speakers can be very mediocre and don’t produce very good sound quality (some have weak bass) and just aren’t loud enough for many people, that’s where multimedia speakers come in. The Edifier MP300 Plus on review this month is a 2.1 (satellites plus subwoofer) channel multimedia speaker with a sleek shiny black design. This speaker can connect to laptops, personal computers, iPods, MP3 players, or any other device that uses a standard 2-way 3.5mm jack. Though the Edifier MP300 Plus is compact, it’s not exactly the most portable around. But for people who use the same laptop in the office and at home, this is a great speaker to have.

The subwoofer is a cylindrical tube made of brushed aluminium that is cool to the touch, something I personally find very nice. It’s conical audio output at either belies it’s one of it’s greatest value as the bass was excellent, much more potent than many other offerings out in the market. Powered by electricity the Edifier MP300 Plus subwoofer is what we can call a true subwoofer, unlike battery powered low frequency speakers that try to emulate similar effects. The satellities do look quite a bit like miniature version of the Apple speakers included in the G4 iMac; audio quality was great and overall impressive. Even at high volumes distortions are non-existent, which speaks much about the quality of the speaker. The speaker is also sensitive to changes in equalizer settings, something that that audiophiles would appreciate.

All in all, the Edifier MP300 Plus fits a particular niche that will appreciate it’s great sound quality and bass. It’s slightly pricey but there really isn’t much to find fault with in this particular model so if you fit into the aforementioned group, why not get yourself one.
