Honda's New Assistant Walking Device

HONDA has unveiled a new walking assist machine designed to make it easier for the elderly to climb stairs and help factory workers.

The computerized leg device is the latest addition to walking technology developed by the Japanese automaker, which announced the world's first two-legged walking robot, ASIMO, in 2000.

The 6.5kg device - consisting of a saddle, leg-like frames and shoes - can reduce the load on users' legs while walking or climbing and descending stairs by supporting bodyweight, Honda said.

Honda's taking another stab at the growing assisted walking market (that's a market!?), this time with what appears to be a robot that hides between your legs and pokes you in the genitals.

The device will supporting a portion of user's body weight whether they're crouching, walking or climbing stairs and is meant to help both those physically weakened with age or injury as well as workers who would need to reduce the stress on their bodies from heavy work or unusual positions.

The device will support users within two inches of its preset 5-foot, 7-inch user height. The entire system, including its lithium ion battery and shoes, weighs 14.3lbs, and uses two electric motors to assist users' leg movement for up to two hours before a re-charge is required.

Interesting, but I'm going to have pass. You see, I accidentally violated myself with a pogo stick once, and ever since, well, I just couldn't imagine ever cheating on it. I heart you Springy

Honda said the motor-powered machine is still at an experimental stage, but elderly people and people undergoing rehabilitation who need support for their leg muscles and joints are the main target.

The device is also expected to help assembly workers to keep a crouching position, Honda said, adding that it plans to test the device at one of its factories north of Tokyo.

Like with a unicycle, users ride on the seat sustained by frames that can bend and extend like knees with two motors controlled by signals from sensors inside the shoes.

Canon Powershot SX110 IS Reviews

The wonderful Canon “Powershot SX110 IS” is a dense fantastic go fast digital camera. It has a 10x visual zoom lens with built in image stabilization. It has filled set of manual exposure controls which provide one the whole functions which one needs to make any thing different.
Sharpness is someway above average with each human being element in the building in the centre of the photo viewing up clearly. At this time of year sun glare is a problem for all cameras. The Powershot SX110 IS handles it quite well, but there is some detail lost from the boats.
The major attraction of the “SX110 IS” is likely to be its compact body size when captivating the length of the lens into account. The manual exposure controls will come in handy for the more experienced photographer or someone who is looking to learn more about photography.
The Powershot SX110 IS produces one more sharp shot. It also handles the light coloring of the boats as they are caught by the sun. The downside of the photo is purple fringing. This is a common problem with longer lenses on compact digital cameras. It happens where the sun catches the edge of objects. It is likely to be a problem if you are looking to make lots of extra large prints.
In my outdoor tests Canon digital cameras routinely produce the sharpest edge to edge shots. The Powershot SX110 IS continues that trend. The lens is able to produce sharp photos throughout its different focal lengths from wide angle to full telephoto shots.
When it comes to sharpness this photo is much better than most cameras manage when the zoom is not being used? There is a slight issue with purple fringing. This shows up on the right hand side of the photo where the trees meet the sky.
This is a quite standard representation taken in the shade. The “Powershot SX110 IS” is able to take a sharp shot and produce colors with a natural look. It should be able to handle this type of portrait shots without any problem.
Even when the light indoors is good digital cameras still effort to focus sharply for this type of photo. The Powershot SX110 IS does improve than most cameras manage. As with the other portrait shots the skin tones have a natural look. Colors have been sturdy all through all my tests. They stay with in realistic bounds and give the photos a vivid look.
The lighting from the flash unit is about as good as you are going to get. There is a slight reflection coming from areas of the face, but this is more or less impossible to avoid. The camera does well to make sure that in spite of using flash there is still abundance of color in the shot.
At higher ISO picture quality is inline with expectations. There is the predictable defeat of quality that becomes more obvious as you enlarge the ISO value. As with other models in the Canon range the “Powershot SX110 IS” creat a good quality macro shot. It is bright and clear with abundance of definition.
I think Taken as a whole this camera is above standard and average. There were no places and situations where it really struggled and many where it did very well job. If you have some more comments so please share it with me along with having the problems with this Powershot.
